Help Contacts - Google, Facebook, Messages and Pictures

I am having an interesting time with contacts at the moment.

Yesterday I tried calling my g/f and the network would not accept the call. On further inspection I noticed the number being dialed started 44796 which calling from the UK is not valid. It could be dialed as either +44796... (international format) or 0796... (national format). My Google contacts had the number correctly stored in international format but with the contact linked to Facebook it seems Facebook was providing the incorrect number and the phone was preferring that to the Google one. It also seems to prefer the Facebook picture to the Google one.

The "People" app seems to have the option to change which of a linked set of contacts provides the name and the picture though in the case of the picture this does not always seem to work, at least not for long. I changed the entry for my g/f to use the Google picture which the phone started to use for a while but as soon as she updated her Facebook profile the phone switched back to using the Facebook one. Of course the reason I picked the Google picture is because it is stable - I want the pictures in the phone book and calls lists to remain stable and not change into cartoon characters or pictures of people's dogs or children as they update their Facebook profiles. I changed the picture back to Google and then found the messages application does not display a picture at all!

Has anyone had any luck getting the phone to accept a preference for which service should be the master for phone book info, either for an individual entry or for the whole phone book and then remember and stick to that preference? If so how did you do it, please?
