My friend had a frequent shut down issue with his galaxy s2. So after a few unsuccessful attempts to solve that, I decided to resort to factory reset. I did 'merge with Google' inside the contacts. Then after connecting to pc, I selected all the files (ctrl+a) from the phone and pasted it on a safe location in the computer hard disk. Then I did the factory reset. Then set up the gmail account to which the contacts were synced earlier and synced with contracts.... but found only a few (23) contacts. Earlier there were more than 100 contacts.what happened to my contacts. ? What is happening when contacts in an android phone are synced with gmail.? - contacts of phone are replaced with contacts in Gmail or the other way round? Or gmail gets the contacts from phone in addition to what it has and phone gets the contacts from Gmail in addition to what it has?. Plz clarify. Also I would appreciate any help in restoring my contacts from the wholesome backup I did in the beginning.
