Help Contacts not displaying in messaging

baldur

Lurker
ICS has finally come to Ireland but I'm having a strange problem since the upgrade. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S2.

When I receive a message instead of the name displaying at the top, the persons number comes up. If I try to add to contacts from messaging, it opens the contact normally but when I go back into messaging the contact is still just the number rather than the name.

Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to both of you. Thanks for joining US here @ AF.

I've moved this thread to the Galaxy S2 support forum for some better and faster responses. :)

The usual reason for displaying the number and not the name of a contact is if there are multiple entries for a contact. If the phone encounters 2 or more instances of the same contact it cannot choose which one to display and will instead just show the number.

This can happen if you import, say, Facebook/Twitter contacts.
and
Go to Contacts > Menu > Contacts to diplay and choose one set.
