Contacts not synching

All of a sudden the contacts I enter on my phone do not transfer over to my gmail contact. And, vise versa, contacts I enter online with my gmail contact do not transfer to my phone.

This just started. I'm wondering if I accidentally changed some setting that is inhibiting this.

Any ideas?

Are you entering them as google contacts rather than phone or sim contacts? Do you have it set up to sync contacts under Settings >> Accounts & Sync >> Your email account?

I checked all those settings and they seem correct. It seems the last synch occurred on Sept 22. I cannot even "force" it to synch by selecting "Synch all".

Yes, I'm aware that any new contacts I enter on my phone must be "Google" contacts. In the past, it all worked so perfectly. Whether I entered/update a contact on my phone or online with my gmail account - it always synched. But not any more. Inexplicably, it has all just stopped synching.
