Help Contacts not upgrading in Google

Mr. Boom

Android Enthusiast
If i add a contact on the phone, then try to sync with Google contacts, the new contacts do not show up in google on the computer. WHy not? ANd how do i get this to work from phone to Google?

I think I'm in the same boat.

All my contacts were backed up on backup assistant. Got the Inc, did back up assistant and got my contacts.

I try to sync those contacts to gmail and nothing shows up. I can only sync contacts from gmail to the phone and not the phone to gmail.

After doing some searching i found that if i add them as google contacts initially, then they will sync and update.

If there is, i could not find it. I just erased the ones i wanted updated, then re-entered them as google contacts, synced, and it worked.

Is there a way to change contacts to google contacts?

You can export your contacts on the phone, it will create a file on your SDcard, transfer the file to a pc and then import into google contacts from the webpage.

When you create new contacts on the phone just change the "contact type" dropdown list from "phone" to your gmail account and it will sync even from the phone. Unfortunately they don't let you change the contact type after you save the contact so you have to remember to do it correctly when you create the contact.
