Help Contacts SYNC problem with Optimus One

pulsater

Lurker
hey guys

I bought the LG Optimus One a day back . i am new to android and was using a windows mobile before (HTC TyTn2) . i backed up all my contacts from the windows mobile to a .csv file . now as usual i uploaded this .csv file onto my gmail account hoping that when i connect to gmail from my phone it would sync all the contacts from gmail onto my phone, although it did sync all the contacts on checking i found that only the names were synced and the phone numbers were not there . not sure why this happened .

basically what has happened is there are names in the phone book but there is no phone number stored for that name .

could anyone help me out here . i am not sure whether i am going wrong somewhere.

i tried using the LG PC suite and shuts down when i try to sync up with my phone .

First step is to check your gmail account online and see if the telephone numbers are correctly included in the Contacts there.

If gmail does not have the numbers, then your .csv export/import did not work correctly.

@Marvintheparanoid yes i could see the contacts in gmail. when i click on a particular contact i could see the number . please do reply asap ..

Try deleting all contacts off your phone and running the sync again.

Restart the phone and run it again

Give that a try.

EDIT:

Forget that: I think I know what the problem is.

I bet the phone 'numbers' in gmail are not really 'numbers'. Have you got non-numerical characters mixed in there too? e.g. - or ()

If so, gmail will happily accept them, but your phone - recognising that they are not a valid number- will ignore them.

Edit one in google and see if that syncs

If it does, then you should edit the .csv in excel to remove the extra characters, then use the new .csv with gmail

Hi
I am not very sure, if uploading csv file to gmail and syncing with the phone would work.
What I would do is. save the csv file on SD Card and upload via Contacts upload menu. (There is option to do that). Initially you have to map the fields properly, but rest it would do
Give it a try if you have not done it already. Let me know if you need the path to upload the file
