Help Contacts sync-up issue

guys

I've never really been satisfied with the activesync sync-up on the droid, even after updating last night to the latest software version

1) When my contacts created in outlook don't show up on the phone, I go to accounts and select my enterprise exchange and then deselect contacts. I reboot the phone, select contacts and everything shows up

2) Some of the contacts I created directly on the phone never show up in Outlook. How do I fix this? In linked profiles under the contact, I see 'Phone contacts' while other contacts show up as "Company name: contact name"

Thanks

It sounds like your phone, for whatever reason, isn't syncing contacts. Can you modify an existing contact in Outlook and verify that the change shows up on the phone soon after? It might be prudent to delete the Exchange configuration in Accounts, reboot the phone, and then re-add the Exchange configuration.

When you create a contact on the phone, are you specifying that this is an Exchange contact? If it doesn't know then it's not going to sync it with Exchange. My guess, however, is still that there's an issue with your Exchange configuration that's causing you issues.

How do I exactly specify a contact to be an Exchange contact when I create a new contact on the phone? I see no option for that whatsoever. I'm simply adding a friend in and not doing it from a search in the address book

thanks

If you go into Contacts on the phone, click the menu button, click more, and then click settings, you should see a "Contact Settings" screen. On my phone I use Touchdown for Exchange so all I see here are "Phone Contacts" and "Google" (both are currently checked). If I de-select Google, and then exit back to my contacts and add a contact, it'll be added locally to the phone. If I go back to "Contact Settings" and check Google and then add a contact it adds the contact to both Phone and Google (and automatically links the two).

If we extend this logic and (assuming that you are using the default client for MS Exchange support), then I'd assume that your phone has "Exchange" listed in contact settings. If this is the case then you simply uncheck Google, insure that Exchange is checked, and then add the new contact. It should then be added to your Exchange contacts.

One thing I see on my phone that I really don't much like is that I cannot uncheck "Phone Contact" in Contact settings. In other words all contacts are automatically added to the phone in addition to whatever other contact lists are checked.

In my case, however, Touchdown does not give me the ability to add contacts through the default Contacts client. I have to go to the Touchdown app in the App Drawer, and add my contact through Touchdown to get it into Exchange.

Martimus - I've gone to that settings page before and made sure only Exchange is selected. I have google unselected as I'm not interested in maintaining my contacts at two different places

Like you, I cannot select or unselect Phone contacts

My problem remains the same - sync works downstream just fine but not upstream
