First off, this should probably go in the All Things Root (Droid) Forum seeing as how this is on a rooted phone. I cannot say that I have had experience in this problem personally however. My phone is rooted and this is not a problem for me. Make sure that you do not have background data turned off in the accounts and sync settings. Other than that, I would try updating or reinstalling the app. What rom are you running? Is facebook built in as a system app or did you have to download it?
