Contract up.... Should I stay or should I go?

We have been with Sprint for over 10 years. However, our contract is up in October and curious on whether to stay or move to another carrier.

Here is what we have now. $172 a month for the everything family unlimited plan. This includes a corporate discount and 2 smartphones and 3rd cheap emergency phone for our son.

On average, between my wife and I we use just as tit over 1g in data. Our combined minutes are a bit more that 500. We are primarily texters.

What I am curious about is could we be getting a better price with another carrier considering our usage? I talked with Sprint twice and asked should we modify our plan and both times I was told no by seperate cs reps.

So for those who know carriers and plans well, could we be getting a better price elsewhere?

On Verizon, two smartphones, a dumbphone, and 2GB of shared data will cost you $170/mo + taxes. (if your corporate discount works with them, I am thinking it will be about the same as Sprint per month, otherwise, more.) AT&T is pretty close to the same. I would say switching for a huge monthly savings isn't going to happen, but you may be able to hop on to a better network for the same price...

You could also try signing up for RepublicWireless and wait for your invitation to join. Signing up now, that'll probably be a 2-3 month wait.

Their plan is only $19/mo (approx $26 after taxes) for UNLIMITED Talk, Text, and Data. Their phones are $249 each (Motorola Defy XT - nice water/dust proof phones).

They run on Sprint's network, so you should get similar coverage to what you have now.
