Control Music without unlocking

Hey all.

I am using the included music player with my Note.

Is there a way for me to pause/skip tracks without having to unlock my phone every time.

I am using my own earbuds with no buttons on them.

Hi McGilli,

Are you mentioning directly thru Headphone or via device.

Note has this feature IN BUILT. You get the options of skipping and playing back on the lock screen Itself.

If you have a Headphones with call Button, then press it twice (Quickly) to play the next song and one time to play pause

Cool! How do you do this exactly? I have looked in the usual places but cannot see the setting.

For the OP: You can continue to use your own headphones and still get the call button if you buy yourself a headset adapter. I got one from HTC for about 20 Euro (although they are cheaper on Ebay). The mic is quite sucky but good enough.

I am hoping to control the music from the lock screen, ala iPhone etc.

I can't figure it out if there is a way from the lock screen though. I have tried double and triple clicking and holding all the buttons individually etc and no audio controls from the lock screen on the Note that I can find...

By default with the screen locked, the control bar for the music player appears at the bottom of the screen. You can pause, play and skip to previous/next track. After a few seconds, it "disappears" but all you have to do is to pull/swipe it up, all with the screen on locked mode.

I just can't make it happen...

I tried using a lock screen with no security, a pin passcode, a password, or drawing a pattern and none of them allow me to control music from the lock screen without unlocking. No swiping any which way.

IN case there's a difference in our OS/Launcher etc

I'm on the stock GB 2.3.6 with the stock launcher and lock screen ...

And this is all while I have music playing on the Note....


I see what you are talking about though in this screen shot.... but - I notice the photo is the i717 (North American) version of the phone, is it the same for the n7000 (international)?

Ah, just worked out the answer to my own question. Apparently the music control only appears on the lock screen if you don't have it secured with a password or pattern lock. Too bad, it would have been a nice feature.
