You shouldn't really need to convert anything, it plays most everything (and for everything else I use Dice Player, which handles subs and dual audio and more audio codecs than the inbuilt player and uses hardware acceleration). Whether its fullscreen or not depends on its resolution and aspect ratio.
Only problem with using the source material is if it's a 1:1 bluray rip which is ~25 GB and m2ts container which doesn't play, at least on the native player.
So, I would recommend frankkduf2 uses handbrake to convert to 720p h264 video and ac3 sound in an mkv container, with around 2000kb-3000kb bitrate..
