I just got a Droid classic this summer and was waiting with bated breath
for the iphone. Well now I am not so sure. Here is what I love about my
Droid.
1.Notification Light
2.Notification Bar
3.Google Maps w/nav
4.Google Voice
5.G-mail
6.Several custom apps not on iPhone
7.Tethering
8.Widgets
9. Live wallpaper
Now to be fair the iPhone has some of its own advantages but I am
going to wait and see how the Bionic dose and its reviews from users
before I think about an iPhone. My little phone has been rock solid.

Yep, you put out the majority of the things I love about my Droid (and Android in general). Have you rooted yours yet? It really opens up even more you can do with it like WiFi tethering, theming, overclocking etc. I would never consider the Iphone, but I think my fiance would like it. We both got the OG Droid the day after release and she has YET to replace her lame background, nevermind downloading apps, rooting, theming, etc. For her, it's a gateway to email, texting, calling and using GNav. I think the Iphone is more appropriate for those type of folks.
I'm definitely concerned about the upcoming Moto phones being totally locked down and not a Vanilla experience like the OG. When our contract is up in June/July, not sure, I may consider switching carriers as I really want a developer phone and I doubt Verizon will ever get one.

Yeah, Verizon doesn't seem to be getting a dev phone any time soon, but the thing is that the only two carriers that have it are T-Mo and AT&T and those are the two worst carriers in the US by far. Sprint is just marginally worse than Verizon, but they also don't have dev phones. On the bright side, they have truly awesome phones like the Epic 4G and the EVO, which might still be better than the upcoming Thunderbolt because supposedly the Thunderbolt has no HDMI out. If I were to go to T-Mo or AT&T for any phone in particular, it would be the Samsung Infuse. That 4.5" screen sounds like the perfect size.

Honestly, I've had no experience with any other carrier since I've been with Verizon since day one of cell phone days (some sweet "flip" Sammy back in the day). Haven't seen any specs on the Infuse, but aside from the NS, Samsungs track record of updates is just horrible. Even if I can get the newest OS through XDA, I'd rather have the OEM help move them forward a bit more.
