Cops are cool.

Cops get some press all too often. Personally, I've been treated well by them more than badly, and I've been on the wrong side of the law on many of these occasions (I'm a good boy now though! :D), it all boils down to the attitude you show them as to how they treat you (at least, that's how it works here). I thought I'd start a thread where people can post positive/cool stuff about the po-leece...

Same old same old, pics and yootoob clips to be hidden so the page will load quickly for those using their mobile devices. ;)

Like any other profession there are good ones and bad ones. Sadly the good ones don't make the news like the bad ones. I do feel their powers have been expanded too much in the past 12 years

I do get the impression that they, shall we say, over-react very easily in the States. It's possibly (IMO) a matter of not enough of the right sort of training, and maybe choosing the wrong sort of applicants too often. There's probably a culture that has developed along the way that would/could be difficult to change also.

Hmmm, I'd like to say more but would be risking a rap over the knuckles for getting political. ;)

Let's just all look for stories and yootoob clips that show them in a positive light. :)

Well South Africa is world infamous for abusive police force that are I'd say 50% of the time in on it.

But when you get the honest and good fighters like these guys then you are on a ******* ROLL bruizer!!!

GO FOR THE HEAD GUYS!!!!

SHOOT SHOOT SHOOOOOOT!

FIRE GO FOR THE RACIST PEOPLE'S EYES

KILL EM

On a ROLL guys!

ON A ROLL

Get those *******!

but sigh... then you get the millions of losers that abuse people instead of helping them....

**** this crazy country

Our cops don't... they shoot foreigners because they don't even want other black people from the rest of Africa here...

the list goes on and on why I HATE gubbermints and their never ending list of hell they bring with them on good innocent hard work people like myself.

For example.

I never EVER refer to a porker / police as "sir" - I NEVER refer to them as anything - I just say "ja" reminding them they will also abide by the law even though they never do.

There are loads of hard workers like the one I showed in my first video.

Those are the ones I have extreme respect for.

But are police force is sooooooo corrupt - you need to watch your back around them.

They shoot people that don't vote for the ANC - bull shit like that.

I don't think cops are cool at all... sorry.

They are dangerous in SA.

They do insane horrible down right disgusting SHIT like this:

(PLEASE be advised this is an extremely violent amateur film caught by the police dragging an innocent man hand cuffed to the back of a police van and killing him in South Africa. It may be far too much for the developed world people to understand. You have been warned so don't blame me thanks okay? Not my fault if you get upset.)

The man died from this... what a crazy country.

These ******* are so racist they can't even like other people from other African countries they are so ******* screwed up in the head.

These people are ****** IN THE HEAD.

They are so ****** up.

That poor poor man... :(

Anybody with a brain is VERY cautious around these psychopaths ... we are not like 1st world people that trust gubbermints with our lives... we despise them.

We don't trust gubbermints.

Sorry i don't like the police.

That poor man.....

:'-(

These people are so racist they don't even like people from the rest of Africa... they are disgusting.

They keep saying "shoot him" in the recording.

The man that died from being dragged behind the car was from Mozambique.

These people are so racist they don't even want other people from pther African countires here.

They hate people from any other ethnic background and they are the most racist, intolerant, angry, hateful, violent creatures in the world.

They are the most racist people on the planet.

They (Zulu's / Xhosa's) are the most racist people on the planet.

They have a word for foreigner - "amakwerekwere".

Do not let the internet fool you.

It is a very very very UGLY word.

It basically means LOSER foreigner.

But no one will tell you the truth if you ever ask them.

It is a very ugly word that "amakwerekwere".

In general, law enforcement agencies in the US do appear to be trained to act very aggressively - way more than would be acceptable in places like the UK.

You notice the aggression the moment you arrive in the US - the immigration staff are so notoriously obnoxious there are jokes about them. My fav is the guy coming off a flight being met by the usual super-aggressive guy there to confiscate foreign fruit and veg:

"Any fruit or vegetables?!"

"Yikes! Sure .. I'll take a pound of apples"

My mother has a great story from an interview she heard with Nat King Cole when he visited the UK in the 50s: apparently, every time his band members saw a policeman, they'd stop and ask directions or the time or something, just to hear the policeman call them "Sir".

Not quite sure why US officialdom is so aggressive - the most obvious idea is it has something to do with them being so much more likely to be shot in the US than elsewhere.

I also wonder if all this official aggression feeds the anti-government feeling in the US: I'm sure I'd be a lot more anti-government if every time I dealt with a government official they gave me such a hard time.

Hmmm, I'd like to say more but would be risking a rap over the knuckles for getting political. ;)

I think you scraped by there ;)

If lethal force is used by the cops here it's pretty big news. That's not to say they can't/don't get it wrong, they can and do...

:ditto:

It happens here, but it's relatively rare - as you'd expect, given homicides in general are around 40 times (I seem to recall) less frequent than in the US.

The best way to put it. I bet there are more good cops out there than bad ones, but we just don't hear about them.

Besides the fact that the cops get paid a little less than nothing to save our lives and make the streets a better place to walk on .

Not to mention the fact that they risk their lives each time they go to werk...

...emergency services personnel, teachers and nurses should all be paid what they're worth, which in my estimation is probably four times as much as they get currently.

Here in NC, US of A, it depends on where you are. The smaller towns have worthless police forces full of cronies and flunkies (even the suburbs do), and some of the big towns are nuts. Durham, NC, I've HEARD cops tell kids "I ought to shoot you cos you looked at me... I wanna." with a nice city accent to match. I've seen plenty of Cary/Garner cops ignore bigger, more dangerous road crimes to go for a 5-over-the-limit ticket, and my fiance's had more than enough fun with small town NC's "antagonize the outsiders" approach.

On the other hand, Raleigh PD has never been anything but helpful, except in a small few cases, even pulling my fiance over to let her know her car had a plastic bag trapped in the underbody. I do like Raleigh Police, but there are a lot of bad departments in NC.

EDIT: My best friend's dad is Raleigh, PD, one of the coolest guys I met. Has a policy- "If I'd do it, I don't ticket it."
