Copying ringtones to Samsung Transform Ultra

Is there a way to copy ringtones from a sb card to the phone or do they stay on the card? The reason I ask is because my husband had some ringtones for certain people but his card came out and he didn't know it and missed some calls because the ringtones didn't work. We're all new to this so I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question.
My old phone copied them to the phone so I didn't need a card to use them.

Caution: Although I'm pretty sure nothing bad will happen to your phone if you do this properly I actually don't know for sure. Use your head and don't do anything you're not willing to risk your phone over. AND DON'T BLAME LOOTA :P

Actually thats a very good idea seeing how some of us are having issues with SD cards unmounting. First your hubby is gonna have to be rooted. Then he can copy files into a folder. I will attempt to try it now and tell you where to put it.

Drop what ringtones you need into /system/media/audio/ringtones/

For this you will need root and a decent file explorer that can work with root. I recommend ES file explorer. After copying one into there I could not find it immediately with android system when setting it as a ringtone but after setting it with ES File explorer it shows up there. I suspect rebooting will cause it to show up as well.
 
If you are, you want to go to the app store and get rings extender or tone picker if you already have the ringtones they use mp3 format. You would also need to shorten the mp3 (music file) to around 15 sec so it wont play the whole song. :-P

I'm going to point you in the direction you need to go to learn about it but I would prefer to not explain it in simple terms... Rooting voids your warranty and can seriously screw up your phone if it is done wrong or if murphy's law comes into effect. It is not something that should be taken lightly and should be well researched so I will leave you with this link, and a pointer to the all things root section.

Also if you and your hubby do not want to take this process on I would suggest using a stock ringtone so he doesnt miss those calls or maybe turning off vibrate to prevent the sd card from disconnecting.

P.S. Please feel free to ask questions if you do decide to root your phone :)
 
I recommend Astro file browser. It doesn't require root, and is free to download. The user interface is a little confusing at first, but it's the only file browser I use.

Another option is to copy the files from the location Loota mentioned from your phone onto the computer, then into the same folder on your husband's phone. There were a few ringtones I liked when I had my Motorola Droid that I guess were Verizon-specific, so I copied the tones I liked from a ROM I had on my computer to my phone.

Make sure your husband's phone is set to "Mass storage" before copying the files over, and that the computer has the latest drivers for the phone installed, or they may not transfer over. If the phone doesn't ask what sort of connection you'd like to make with the computer, or a goldenrod android with the message "USB storage in use" underneath doesn't appear, the settings can be changed in Settings > Wireless & networks > USB connection.
 
Thank you everyone for your help. I don't think I want to root my phone at this time, I'm not very familiar with it yet.
