Couldn't get clear 4g for my house

Yeah, the rollout is starting in the middle of larger cities in order to hit the most people. Unfortunately if you live on the outskirts the coverage might not be what you expect. I remember testing it here in Baltimore back in 2008 and I had great signal where I live in the middle of the city but the people who lived farther out had less luck and were disappointed.

Im in a "coverage my vary" area on the sprint website. I called our only sprint store in this city and they told me they all have sprint and get pretty good service with 3g. Im not sure how much I believe them, though. Ill buy the Evo and use it for 30 days. If the service is awful then I will be forced to stay with Att and get the new iphone

is it a signal penetration issue? (i have no idea what frequence WiMax operates at... but if it's 1700 or above, could be an issue...)... have you verified if you went outside your house, that you get 4G? or are you only taking this lady's word for it?
im not trying to use a data card...im trying to use 4g for my home pc and home laptops all at once to replace my verizon internet

But wouldn't you rather test signal before shelling out $70 for a modem? I use the service at home and I know I have a good 4G signal so I had no problem getting it but I sure as hell wouldn't buy a modem if I didn't know my signal quality. Unless they changed it when rebranding Xohm as Clear, you buy the modem and then subscribe to the service. Likewise if your laptop has a Wimax radio built in like my Thinkpad, you can just use that. I find it cheaper to use the modem since the plan is less expensive and I can share it out in the house with a plain old Linksys router.
The folks here are just thinking of ways for you to test the service before buying anything.

dude... a 4G signal is a 4G signal... i'm NOT telling you to buy a 4G card TO REPLACE a 4G modem but simply - as stated above - take one home to TEST THE SIGNAL (and then return it the next day after you've determined if you truly have a 4G SIGNAL in your area or not)...
just keep believing whatever crap "the lady" is telling you and will til she gives you the OK...
my gf is in an area that doesn't show clear coverage so they wouldn't give her the service, but she wanted the roaming capable 3G/4G program and they won't stop you there. anyway, at her house (where 4G is not supposed to be available) she gets an extremely strong 4G signal all the time. sooooo, make of that what you will.

Why don't you try keeping it positive. A 4G signal is not a 4g signal...sorry its not.
A USB device does not have as big of an antenna so it won't pick up as well.
Also not all home modems are made equal. I am a bandwidth junkie and only get about 3mbs up with each clear modem I have however two of them drop more then the 3rd
Someone posted that their 4G USB stick is getting better results/DL speeds than their EVO, in the same location.
USB stick is all antenna. Evo is all of everything (why we love it so much). The home modem is of cource more all antenna thus better signal. Put it like this I get 3 bar in the house with clear home modems. With USB modem I got none had to cancel it.
