to the day our AT&T contract is up and we can switch to Verizon. Last few weeks we have been eyeing a Droid X for me and one for my husband and the daughter wants the HTC Incredible....but only because it is slightly smaller. (I'm thinking the X is better, especially when it comes to battery life and it has Swype on it already - still have a few days to get her to reconsider.)

Learning so much so far. Thanks for all the info/insight/contributions.

I owned the incredible.. it's a fine phone, but I returned it for the DX. You're right. Better reception, battery life and it's slightly speedier. PM me if you need anything.

Thanks for the warm welcome! So after work last night I shuffled on over to the Verizon store......ordered the two Droid X's and one Incredible. (I was unsuccessful in convincing the kid to get the X) The salesman was very helpful and patient. They waived the activation fees.....AND while he was entering the order and locating and applying my company's employee discount to the plan, he discovered that because I work for the company I do, I got another $100 bucks off one of the X's. I didn't know about that! $99 for a Droid X? No complaints here! Now it's countdown until it arrives.....tick tock tick tock....

The Incredible is on it's way to New York (where she is at college) and should arrive today. For the X's, he said shipping on the 13th....I believe that is what he said.

Ok, here is kind of a dumb question....(I know questions aren't supposed to be posted in this section...) Do they come with a charged battery out of the box or do I have to go through the agony of charging it when it arrives and THEN being able to set it up and use it? Didn't occur to me to ask the sales rep the other night.

They come with enough charge to do what you need to do to get started. Which is what you were hoping for I'm sure - Cheers ;)
 
Got the email notification that the two Droid X's are shipping. Better than what I was expecting.....I ordered them on September 1st. Should arrive on September 8th. Initial ship date (when I was in the store) was in the neighborhood of the 13th.

This is good!
