Help Country Code Prefix Issue [HELP]

hybmu

Lurker
I've just got my phone Desire HD and I have noticed an issue about the country code that is not recognized by the phone. My country code +230

When I receive a sms it looks like +2301234567
When I receive a call it looks like 1234567

For instance if I save the number +2301234567 to my friend's name JOHN in my contact list and receive a call from him; I can't see his name on the screen instad 1234567 because the number was saved as +230 1234567

Please I need some help, it's quite annoying because every time someone calls me or sms me I spend much time matching the numbers with name that it is really giving me bad headaches.

That is odd...

This isn't really a fix, but could you add the version without the country code as second phone numbers for people? So John would have '+2301234567' as his mobile number and '1234567' would be listed as something else. (I'm pretty sure you can make your own 'Mobile 2' field if you wanted to).

You would still call and send texts to the version with the country code, but I think the phone would group recieved calls and SMS messages together. In theory anyway.

Have you linked your phone contacts with their facebook counterparts? I'd a similar issue for a while as FB was cutting off the +44 when linked with numbers on my FB account. It's because of the way FB stores the country code.

Updated the FB app and I was fine.

Hmmm. ALL of my contacts are stored with the country code first - so +44 for contacts here in the UK. That means I don't have to edit anything when travelling abroad but there is no penalty, call-cost wise, for doing it this way. BUT my contacts do show up as names when calling me so I'm not sure what is happening to yours ... or why/how mine works.

It seems that's the only method to get this working. I will have to put both numbers +2301234567 and 1234567 and some time. Thank though

I did the update, still not working. Actually all my contacts are from my sims; I haven't synced any contact from facebook yet. Thanks anyway

I have done so to some of my contact, still see only the NUMBER(1234567 without the country code) and not their name.

Sent HTC a mail, hopefully I will get this fixed

Ah, now I don't think my suggestion will work if your contacts are saved to your SIM card. SIM contacts are a lot more basic and you can't have multiple numbers per contact.

You would need to have them stored on the phone or as google contacts to do this. (Google would be easier, as you could then add the second number to each contact via the PC, which would be far quicker).

i am experiencing the same problem. the reason why this is happening is because the phone you are using is not compatible to your country. im from the Philippines but my mobile phone is the version from Turkey or something, so it does not recognize the prefix dialing. i read somewhere that there's an app called PREFIXER. I downloaded it but not sure how it works...let me know if you've figured it out.
