Cox Communication Wireless 2.2 Rollout

For the few Cox Communication wireless users like myself, Cox is rolling out Froyo 2.2. The bad news is tethering is not yet enabled but according to customer service will at some point be activated.

Have you be able to complete the update? I've tried both the OTA and computer approaches without success.

CC is having trouble with the upgrade to 2.2, my software currently shows there are no updates for my phone, customer service says they are working on it. It was for available for download for a brief period but when I got home It was gone again ( Saturday).

Customer service stated that the "official" date when the update would be available is March 29. Why the emails were sent two weeks prior to the "official" launch is anyone's guess.

I think that update is controlled by mission control in mountain view google ;-) when i had droid it appeared one morning without prior warning.

Got an alert today that froyo is available on my cox desire. It took quite long about 40 minutes to complete download. installation went smooth. i had backed up my contacts just in case but it didnt ask me to go through the setup process so thinking froyo does not erase personal data. i also found this online http://ww2.cox.com/residential/omaha/support/wireless/article.cox?articleId={3de5b610-4364-11e0-e583-000000000000}

I did the wifes upgrade last night, went pretty good, i am hoping that the mobile hotspot feature is turned on soon being that they do have mobile broadband service and packages, also the app widget is there in applications, but cannot assign it.

What's the widget hotspot called ?

Now if we can get Cox to turn that feature on and throw a 29.95 broadband add on into the system it would be great, Bad news on the Wifes handset, since the update i keep losing display intermittently, and frequently when trying to open mailbox, it force closes and power cycles phone, Cox has asked for software numbers and sense versions and now they want me to swap the unit out for a new unit from Solution store. we will see. Hope it comes loaded with the 2.2 already. Engineers want to track this handset too they said to have the store call while i am there and get all the HEC DEC numbers so they can keep up where this handset goes weird..
