Haven't seen any posts from Cox Communication wireless users but they are only in a few cities so far. No major problems yet . Here's a couple of updates.

No 2.2 yet, customer service is guessing a roll-out in January.

Since they are using Sprints network you need to download the HTC manual from the Sprint website for a correct listing of notification and status icons. The manual that comes with the phone from Cox has different icons.

Sprint does not carry the HTC Desire that Cox carries.

None now, I found them on the Sprint website by checking Various smartphone HTC manuals the Hero User Guide shows the correct icons. The most obvious, the Sprint EVDO icon is substituted for 3G icon.

Cox Communication support could not account for the icon discrepancies and did not direct me to the Sprint site.

I posted in case other Cox Wireless users were looking for the icons not in the phones manual.

User guide should be in the SD card. check pg 39 of the user guide for phone status and notifications.

I also googled and found the user guide here ... this is the European version. Icons in page 25 are different on this one but sharing it for your reference:
