Crack with glass screen protecor

I noticed I have a small crack on my phone, and I have one of those glass protectors on it. Is there a way short of taking it off to verify that the crack in on the protector and not on my phone it's self? Any tips? I'd hate to pull it off an discover the crack is on my phone.

I'd also love to know how it happened.

If you hold to the light and see glass between the crack edge and surface, then your phone screen is cracked probably, if you just see the crack on the surface (or feel it), its probably just the screen protector. (this is similar method to detecting one-way mirrors - glass in between reflective surface and outside surface is normal mirror, reflective surface on outside of glass, might be one-way and someone is watching you.)

The glass screen protectors can usually be taken off very slowly and reapplied. They protect more direct surface scratches and impacts (drops). They will not be as useful against stress cracks (Bending the phone past point of screen tolerance, like sitting on it in back pocket or tight jeans pocket), which would be the case probably if the protector is intact and hte screen is broken.

Thanks for the tip. I was able to pry the edge of the protector up that is what is cracked (whew). Now I just need to figure out if it's worth the effort to sending it in for the "free" screen protector or just buying a new one (I'm guessing the latter).

Are you referring to the "Spartan Tempered Glass" protector?

EDIT - 91% still works. I may try car mount and ear buds as well, since they're practically free. Just wish the earbuds had the volume control.
