cracked LCD - can I sync contacts manually?

Lurker
I have an HTC Desire through US Cellular and the screen cracked. The automatic address update was apparently never set and only ran 6 months ago when I bought the phone. I also, much to my dismay, never changed the setting to have it connect to HTC Sync when connected to my PC. Is there a way to connect it to my PC without having access to the touchscreen, which would allow me to get my contacts before sending the broken phone back for replacement?

Is the digitizer (the top glass) intact?
If so, but you have no display, you should still be able to change the connection to HTC SYNC.

I'm assuming you don't have a PIN or Pattern - lock and can just unlock the screen with the standard down-swipe.

1) Plug in the phone, give it a second or so and swipe down to unlock the screen.

2) Drag the notification bar down (slide from top to bottom of screen)

3) There should be a 'Connection Type' notification at the top, the centre of which is 28mm down from the top edge of the glass. Tap in the middle here to change it.

4) The centre of the 'HTC Sync' option is 36mm down from the top of the glass. Tap here to select it.

5) Tap in the middle at the bottom of the screen to confirm, and if all goes well, your phone will be in HTC Sync mode.
