Cracked screen question

Has anyone seen the stands at the malls where they fix screens? Do the screens work well after they're fixed? I just got a D3 with a broken screen and was wondering if it was worth the cost or if I should deal with the one I have now, its onnly a single crack at the top ccorner and it still works fine.

How bad? Mine is from the ear piece to the middle of the volume keys. Its gotten annoying now and its only been one day lol. Can anything happen to the phone with a cracked screen?
