cracked screen

false sense of security?

i would take it as being irresponsible to think having gorilla glass is license to be careless.

apple has sold their porcelain iphones to 10 of millions of people. its even more fragile than any android phone including the s3.

you buy a case, you get insurance, and overall you just need to be more careful with your device.
Yeah, false sense off security relative to other phones they have had. The original evo had tons of broken screens. It was about epidemic. The 3d had relatively fewand was much more crack resistant.

I'll repeat, the purpose of this information is so that people will know what their phone can withstand so they can make an educated decision on whether or not to buy a case or even get the phone. Everybody's phone is not a holy grail some people lIke a phone to be able to take some abuse so stop being so defensive. It's just an exchange of information.

I broke mine last night. I called Samsung 1-877-392-4252. They were very nice and helped me get my screen replaced. I did have to pay $178.00 (they will email you a UPS shipping label so it wont cost for shipping) to get it repaired but that was a lot cheaper than my local repair store that wanted between 275-320.00 to do the same repair and the repair is done by Samsung.. I would suggest if you can afford it (And its a lot cheaper than replacing your phone) to call them and get a replacement sceduled. Hope this helps.

Not being defensive at all.

I've seen that the s3 doesn't do well when abused and I'm still gonna get the phone because other than not being able to be a cluts with it the phone is frikin awesome.

I did get the S3 and you're right - it is just totally awesome.

Thinking of getting an OtterBox Defender to cradle it.

Who in their right mind would pay 178 dollars for this? I'm sorry but these companies only abuse us like this because we LET them.

There is not more than 40 dollars worth of cheap, shitty, Chinese-made components in ALL of these phones (iPhone included), yet we're convinced we need to pay upwards of 300 dollars for a new one every time even a SINGLE component breaks. The screen is not worth more than a few dollars. Stand up to this sh*t people. Apple is treating their iPhone customers with broken screens ten times better than Verizon or Samsung.

The next big thing? More like the next broken thing. I tried using the S-beam for the first time. It simply wasn't working, when we bumped the backs of our phones together my phone slipped out of my hand and landed face down in the parking lot from 3 feet off the ground. A fall my Droid X would have taken without a scratch.

Just dropped mine off my desk....screen is cracked and it won't work. I can barely make out any images and some distorted colors.

Anyone found any more options to repair?

Luckily, I still have my RAZR and I have that to use (a phone I dropped at least 10 times without a scratch or crack).

hope you have insurance. as the screens are super hd amoled and use a premium glass it will cost a fortune

Just noticed mine has a 1/4 inch perfect line, can't tell if it's a scratch or a crack. Never been dropped, wasn't there a few hours ago. Baffled to say the least.

Phone is kept on its own in my pocket (screen facing my leg) same as I've always done with previous phones. If its not a defect then it's paranormal activity of some sort.

This Galaxy S3 is a joke. Right after purchase, the phone slide from the pocket of my tennis shorts while watching a tennis match. I was sitting, and it fell from perhaps about 1.5 feet above the concrete ground ("corner drop"): screen gone. Basically, this phone cannot be used without a case. However, with the case it is horrendous. Cost to replace the screen? $300.

I never did get this phone haha. Better phones on the horizon due to the merger.
