Cracked Up

It's not funny but what can u say when your Droid Eris screen is cracked up? It got ran over today and I'm afraid to use Asurion Ins. for the claim because I don't want a refurbished one and it's updated to 2.1 and so far it still works. Can I remove the screen and get it replaced?

Firsly, welcome to the forums. Secondly, to your questions:

1) afraid of getting and assurion refurb... Don't be. I've gotten loads of them and they all work great. If they are not up to your liking for any reason, they'll give you another.

2) phones don't go backwards. Once they're updated, they're updated. In other words, the phone you'll get will have 2.1. If it doesn't, (I doubt that) just have them flash upgrade it in the store.
