crap graphics performance after 2.1

Has anyone figured out what is causing this? I checked out the lag test app and I'm averaging about 38fps. Its crazy cuz about every second it dogs way down 30 and then pops back up to 60. Something is f'd up.

This happens without livewall papers running and right after task killing all running apps.

I actually noticed this when I used my friend's Droid. Despite it being the more powerful phone, the Droid's animations and such were a lot choppier than on my Eris.

I wonder why that is.
