Crappy keyboard wrist pain?

Snow_Fox

Anyone else ever have wrist problems after prolonged typing on a crappy phone keyboard?

I think my lg neon is starting to make my thumbs/wrist hurt..

I used it for light texting before and it wasn't pleasurable but, lately its getting almost out right painful x.x

Did you try swype / slide-it / shapewriter? It can help to alleviate the wrist motion.

good luck and stay off the keyboard for a while.

The base of my thumbs always hurt after typing more than a couple of sentences on my BlackBerry(s). Using swype on my Vibrant though, I'm pain free.

at this point I would pay full price for a phone with swype keyboard for a few reasons not just typing..

However, I had an e71x which took some getting use to then was a great device..

My lg neon has big flat plastic stiff buttons.. which require a little extra "force" and can even be a pain on my fingertips since i have to push x.x

no way I'm getting anything new soon though..

I'm not paying over 100$ for a phone just so I can type better but, *not* getting a smartphone.

I would pay full price for a captivate.. and infact I have the money in wallet to do so.

The problem is my parents refuse to pay a data package..

So I'm not paying a lot of money for a phone I'm not going to totally and 100% want.....

Gotta wait till feb I guess and hope no one takes my upgrade.. not that the stiuation itself is going to change then.. they are still going to refuse to pay a data package x.x

offer to do work around the house at the rate of 1$ per hour 1 hour per day. thats enough to cover the data package :P i've sold a few PDA's to kids that way, the 1$ a day thing really helps to make the plan seem a lot cheaper.

back on topic I can never type for an extrended period of time on my phone my thumbs are just too cramped I like to use all my fingers.

Well, if I have the time, and a flat surface near me (eating somewhere), I just lay my phone down on it's back and use my index and middle finger on both hands and just tap out my messages.

Gotta love rooting that enables accurate and usable 5 finger multi-touch. That and ultra keyboard that enables you to use all 5 fingers. ={D

lol to be blunt my parents are totally unreasonable.

A data plan is happening no way and no how.

although I was toying around with my brothers samsung solstice.. Even dumbphones seem better than my current go phone now x.x at&t really likes shafting those without an upgrade/unable to buy a full priced phone.

Oh I see, you've got a non-Android phone.

If you can't get an Android phone, then I suggest you quit texting for a while. It's probably the only way to recover from the strain.

I've actually eased off typing on my real keyboard as well for last few days, still sending a few text.. it gets better but, if I pic up texting again X.x

I hear ya! I've had HORRIBLE wrist/thumb pain for the past few months. :mad:Attributed it to computer keyboard (fixed possibility of incorrect wrist placement on mouse) and to other things in life. Actually going to physical therapy to strengthen my wrist right now! Pain comes back when I use Thunderbolt keyboard. Have to practice "talk to text," but it is so much quicker (less typo's due to autotext) just to type it out. Had "Blackberry thumb pain" from using old blackberry, so switched to Droid (Thunderbolt). SIGH. Want a smart phone that doesn't "smart" (sting/cause pain)!!!!!!! ANY tips to avoid this problem are welcomed.

Quit using the phone and keyboard as much....possibly do some stretches with your hands and fingers.

Several years ago I added these to my workout routine at my doc's suggestion:

I thought that handling weights was enough for hand/wrist strength. But apparently that squeezing movement is necessary to tone the little muscles and ward off fatigue that can happen using keyboards and mice.

What happened to your Cap? O.o Sorry I haven't been following your posts for awhile.

If you're always near a WIFI area (your school campus and at home), then it's not so bad using a smart phone with no data.

I think you should buy one. A used Nexus One can be had for $150 on Craiglist.
