Help Crash when updating apps

HHPP00

Newbie
When updating apps via the Android Market my Desire S stops responding after a while and crashes. I have to remove the battery to get it working again. It doesn't happen all the time, and it doesn't seem to depend on the number of apps that are updating.
Any thoughts?

Some things that might be worth looking at...

Do you have any anti-virus or anti-malware apps running on your phone?

Have you installed any task killer apps that are set to close processes automatically?

Are there any processes on your phone which look like they could be interfering with updates/installing? All apps > Menu > Remove app > Running

Are you using any 3rd party UIs (User Interfaces)?

Are you running out of space on your phone and/or your SD card's memory?

Thanks for the reply Notebook.

I have Lookout anti-virus and AutoKiller Memory Optimizer installed. I was just trialling them to see whether they're worth the bother, are they likely to cause problems like this? If so, shall I just uninstall them or can I reconfigure them in some way to prevent the crashes?

To all other questions the answer is no.

You should be fine with the anti-virus you have. I have it and I've had no problems with it, so far.

I'd uninstall the AutoKiller Memory Optimizer to see if that's the culprit. I don't know the app, so can't really help you as to how it should be set up, but many believe these kind of apps aren't necessary and maybe overly aggressive.

Once you've uninstalled it, do a soft reset (remove the battery for 30 seconds) to clear your phone's cache.
