Crazy Ringtone Question

I have a custom (mp3) ringtone that is stored on my SD card. When I connect my hero to the computer and mount the SD card, the phone no longer has access to the SD because the computer is using it. If I get a call during this time, the ringtone defaults to a crazy but cool beeping that sounds like it came out of star trek or something.

I really want to use that ringtone as my regular ringtone. It doesn't show up in the list of stock tones and I poked around some folders using astro file browser but I was unable to find it. Anyone know where to find it?

For some unknown reason, my custom ringtone folder on my sd just vanished. I had a custom default ringtone set, and got that beeping.

You might try this. Set a custom ringtone from your sd card, then mount the card and delete that file, so the phone can't find it. I don't know if that will work, but might.
