Help Creating Themes?

hey guys,
Here's the deal,i'm an gfx designer by profession ,and i really want to customize my Desire to it's fullest potential,i.e. creating my own theme...
Now the question,how? I have an idea ,by unpacking my current Rom ,and extracting the Res/ and them changing/tweeking the images [i want to completely redesign the theme,from Launcher to Lockscreen,etc]... if so,when finished how do i zip them up? or how do i create a flashable zip

You can create a flashable zip using this guide:

if you rename framework-res/apk to .zip on the end, you can open (not extract) in winrar and swap out the images and put it in the zip you made.

Alternatively you could upload it to the online theme kitchen:

http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/

This will package it in a zip for you, then amend as above
