Cricket increased data to 2.5 GB

So according to some posters at CU the Mercury will be replaced by the Ice, which is the same phone in white. Seems like they just want to change the name and run away from the problems some have had with the Mercury. Those HTC phones are not even in the same class as the Merc, I wouldn't even consider downgrading.

They sent me an email about the HTC One V. Doesn't seem like an upgrade from the Merc. Plus no removable battery or SD card = no sale for me.
Need to correct myself, apparently the One V does have an SD card slot. I think the One S and X don't, but they probably left it up to the phone buyer to supply their own memory to keep costs down on the V. I actually think this is a good thing, but no removable battery is still a no go.

True... Removable battery isn't that bad IMHO (I have a DROID Razr)
The Merc ICE??? LOL, heard about this a while ago.... Was wondering if the recall was going to replace the "old" Merc with this but guess not. :what:

Nice to see you over @ CU as well

Yeah, I usually post up over there often but lately it seems to be turning into a smart a*+ romper room...

P.S. The Htc One V looks NOTHING like the picture that was posted above. It does have a flash & 5 mp camera with the new HD Video Pic ability! It has a 1 Ghz processor also.

It's not the HTC One V. It's supposedly another HTC version being tested on crickets network.... pure speculation.

-He pretty much answered your question about the new phones. I haven't been here for a few weeks.-

So today I visited the store, and the htc is defiantly a downgrade. Screen isn't any sharper, camera only 5mp.

The guy confirmed the Mercury is gone as I figured, because of all the problems they had with them. It's so weird cause my phone has never had an issue and I did all the upgrades. I'm sticking with this phone for awhile.

Apparently 4g is for sure coming to Cricket, but no exact date was given. Again they said that they will be getting a Galaxy s3 in the near future.

I don't get on any phone forums, but I was wondering how people feel about loosing flash with 4.O? I'm pretty upset about it. I loved that android had that over I-phone, and we will lose that. Do you guys care about this?

Losing flash grinds one of my gears as far as ics goes. However, there are fixes for this... Devs have found ways to fix depending on what browser (chrome, dolphin HD, what not) I'll try and did thru my d/l'd files when I get home and see if I got one for the Merc (former owner here)

Mercury not really gone, will be re released as Mercury "Ice" later this month, already out at Radio Shack. Strange thing about flash is, we were always dying to get it on the Ascend, but now that I have it I rarely use it. (shrug)

Because now they have the HTC One V. Its a nice phone, but actually has a much slower processor and less battery life than the Mercury. I think people will get excited about it though just because it's an HTC...

Going down the spec list the HTC also has a smaller 3.7" screen and a 5 MP camera vs. Mercury's 4" screen and 8 MP camera, although the Mercury's camera quality is questionable in moderate to low lighting. (very noisy). Not sure how the HTC compares there.

I went ahead and swapped out my Mercury with the free replacement although I never got a concrete answer as to why they're doing the recall.

At least Cricket finally removed CarrierIQ with the latest firmware update.
