Cross Platform text message app

Ok, so I know there must be a 100 text messaging apps out there, but what I'm looking for is a bit exact.

My GF is a text message fiend. So I'm looking for something to use just with her. The issue is, I have an android (S3) phone and she has some shitty windows phone. SO, I need something that works on both platforms. I found kik and like that. But I'm also wanting something I can use on my Ipad and Mac and as such her for her PC. I would also like something I can change the notification tone on, so I know what it is.

So to summarize I need an app that works on, Android, windows, PC, Mac, Ipad and can hopefully change the notification sound.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I'll assume you are not referring to standard SMS which are cross platform anyway. What I think you mean is some messaging app that uses a data connection. If so you can use Viber or Whatsapp perhaps, which are both available for Windows Phone

What "shitty" Windows Phone has your girlfriend got by the way? Her options are severely limited with the number of messaging apps avaialble and their functionality.

I would think Google Talk should do what your looking for. You might need a 3rd party client to put it on the Win Phone but other than that sounds like the answer to me.

I'd recommend trying IM+ as you want an app that works across all devices, it links to existing services (G+, MSN for example) and I've had it running fine on my PC, Nexus, iPad etc.

I can't speak for Windows phones but worth a look :)

Whatsapp is my app of choice for messaging but only really works on mobile phones.
