Root CTMod3.68 Question @Bloodawn

Hi Bloodawn,

well, first of all, a BIG "Thank you" for this great ROM. It runs for me perfectly on a day-by-day-basis !!!

Now my question is : Will you still update ( enhance ) version 3.68 ? I mean, there seem to be a lot of updates to the apps you use, like koumamod1.7, Voltage Control, MIUI Explorer, etc......... as well as a few little squirks & squarks other users discovered and have temp solutions for it

Not sure if it's worth for you to get into upgrading CTMod3.68, but I think it would be a good idea, to maybe do a last good, nice upgrade with some suggestions provided by other users as well.......

As I said, I don't have much problems and like it the way it runs, but I do like to start with a suggestion for an app exchange in CTMod :

Instead of ( the unstable ) MIUI File Explorer, you could use "Total Commander with it's THREE add-on's ( FTP / LAN / WebDEV ), which is FREE aailable on the market !

Just my thoughts........ and HEY, Bloodawn, thanks again for CTMod !!!

vce

PS: If anyone has a good, feasable suggestion, please post it so Bloodawn can see if it's worth to upgrade ! :)

The 'with 3 add ons' part is probably going to be the part that ensures that isn't going to happen...

The whole point of ctmod it minimalism... 3 apps to do one task is counterintuitive to the idea of ct. Also I'm fairly certain this is it for ctmod-prevail. Blood is working on his current device (marquee) AND has released ctmod for the Transform Ultra. His plate is fairly full as is.
i wouldn't keep my fingers crossed for an update any time soon.

Also, you say 'last final update' but in about 3 months (or less) from now all these 'apps that need updates' will again need updating again.

Hi LV,

well, I bet Bloodawns plate is full....... ;) no question about that. I just meant to upgrade some apps, add some minor tweaks and fixes....... That can't be that much work.

And for the "three-addon's" !!! Well, TotallCommander is ONE app... and the three add-on's don't show anywhere, except inside the program, which makes TotalCommander, one of the ONLY apps ( haven't come around another one yet ), which has root access, is nicely and professional done, has access to LAN ( means you can copy stuff via WiFi from your notebook/desktop right to your phone, has FTP access to as many accounts you want and WebDEV....... All that in ONE app !!

Four apps. A 'plug in' is still an app ;)

Four things running in the background.

Yeah, of course they run......... some people need FTP all the time ( like myself ).... if some don't need FTP or LAN, they don't have to install or can uninstall the addon.

O.K., I see your point with not having the addon's installed by default, however, I definitely and certainly prefer TotalCommander over the MIUI, which seems to have a pretty good amount of bugs ( you can check the xda forum ), while I never had any trouble with TC !

But HEY, this was just a suggestion to start off with..... would be great if other people would have also suggestions for a CTMod update ( if Bloodawn has time and would do it )..... At least he could see what people would like, besides updating the already included apps.......

I certainly don't wanna force Bloodawn to an upgrade, I just think it would be nice to keep things current.

Personally I use ES File explorer. It is free One app no plugins has root does file browsing-LAN-FTP-app manager and a NET mode which I can guess would be webservers and/or VPNs so that makes it a 5 in 1 app. Better chance of that going in than TC. I too would like to see another version but as LV said no matter how new the apps are they will still need an update eventually and I can understand that one might not have time to work on multiple ROMs for multiple devices. Although with permission he may allow a trusted user to put out another update to it but of course that would need his explicit consent. Besides at the point it is now it is kind of universal on how you want setup besides our CTMod themer got a new phone and won't be putting out themes for a new version if it were to happen.

You could easily update things yourself. download the ctmod zip, open it, replace the apk file you don't want with the one you do want then go flash it. I have a folder of apps that I automatically do this with for most roms that I flash. Just make sure you make a backup first (not that that hasn't been said a billion times on this forum.)

"But how do I get the apk?" you might ask. You do have a root file browser don't you? Install the app browse to /data/app copy/paste apk on your sd card then pop it on your computer. Viola! It's magic.

As for Kuma kernel, it's not hard to flash his current version and everythiong else is updateable via the market so while a new release would be awesome (because I'm addicted to flashing) it's not really necessary.

All that your asking is for someone to update everything for you.
You can do of.
Aand you can make your own CTmod Odin version..
Use Jonas Odin maker 3000 (i think i added the # for more effect of how awesome it really is)
Lolz so update everything then make the Odin image of your phone.

Is that different than the one in the odin thread? If so could you throw a link please?

I'd like to see settings/apps/developement Stay Awake: unchecked
Everytime I boot my phone its checked again.
