Curious about Car Mode

Maybe no practical use, only curiosity ;)

My HTC Desire HD has a car mode with a HTC app.
But my Sensation (European version) has only a HTC Dock Mode app for a desk dock.

I simulated successfully on the microUSB plug a desk dock for my Sensation.
The I tried to simulate the Car Mode too :)
But up came no Car Mode, only this stock app HTC Navigation (navigation with this HTC Locations maps) :(

I didn't start this Navigation app (maybe then I'd have to pay for it?).
But I think there is no option on this "Car Mode" to start my favorite navigation Navigon
(if I'd have a fancy HTC car mount ;) )

I hope somebody have a other (better) experience :)

Found some info :)

Yes, to put the Sensation in a HTC car mount (like HTC CU S490) will start the HTC "Premium" navigation.

A way to avoid this is to install 'Dock No-Op' (free in market).

The downside of this app: It disables the desk dock mode too.

So can you now use the old Car Mode instead of the new one. I really miss the older version it was much better than the new one, at least you could customise it with your own apps, unlike the newer version.
 
As I said, just curious about that HTC Car Mode ;)

I've not a HTC car mount and that issue is enough reason for me that I won't buy one.

For Desk Dock Mode I put a 47kOhm resistor between pin4 (ID) and pin5 (0V) of the microUSB plug :)

I hope you can reach this pins on your dock because in the cable there usually is not a 5th wire for pin4
