Help Curious how I'm able to get Calendar reminders WITHOUT wireless connection?

I have a rooted Nook Color, which I use primarily as an ereader and work tablet, using Documents To Go to edit word docs and such. I really didn't NEED to root it, but it was possible and a $250 fully functioning tablet is pretty cool. Plus I love Android in its complete form, so...

But I realized the other day when I hadn't turned on my wireless at all, my Google Calendar reminders were all there! So I cleared them, made sure to keep my wireless off the next day and sure enough, my daily reminders were there again!

Not that I'm complaining, I know a lot of people have problems getting their reminders even WITH a wifi connection - but I can't help but wonder how is this possible? Anybody know?
Thanks in advance!

To clear them you'd clear data for calendar and calendar storage (at least that's what I remember). O/w that info could be cached.

I can't speak for the stock rom, but that seems very strange. A better test would be to do it when you know wireless wasn't available, like at work, or "forget" the wireless connection and clear data (assuming you have an easy to enter key). :D
