Has anyone seen any sales data on the gnex? I'm kind of curious. Same goes for commercials, I haven't seen any yet (other than the youtube ones posted pre-release).
 
the gnex has not to this day been marketed to the masses, it really isnt what the phone is about,,, like I have stated before,, be ready for a roller coaster ride with updates,, some will be good some will be bad,,

we get the fun being the nexus owners,, things will be tested on us, then can get taken away, then brought back again,,,

so as for commercials you wont see any from google, maybe the od one from the carrier,,,

and as far as carrier sales,, I hope google goes back to them doing the selling Again,, and skips the carrier,,

From the all Verizon commercials I have seen on National TV I would say it has been marketed to the masses.
 
Ive been getting a lot of ads for the Gnex on Hulu plus, maybe its just my account, but it is always the google+ circles one.
 
Ive seen ads on my comp and TV but there mostly tied to the Stratosphere, Yet word of mouth is very high all my friends love the look and want one for themselves!
 
I'm also getting a lot on Hulu through my Roku. It's always the Google circles one, but at least once every show there's a gnex commercial.
 
Every Verizon commercial I see now has the Nexus featured in it.

As for sales, I too am very curious about this.
 
I would argue that the galaxy nexus is a Google phone and Google phones historically have been developer phones.

In fact, if you go under settings, you will see developer options.

Typically developer-<insert whatever> are not meant for the masses.

Doesn't matter. What was the last Android phone to actually have long lines on the morning of a launch, even a completely unadvertised launch like that of the Galaxy Nexus? And what was the last Android phone to actually sell out at a ton of stores on day one?

You'll probably have to look back to the Motorola Droid for any comparable success.

For a phone that isn't intended for them, the masses sure seem to like the Galaxy Nexus.

Droid X sold out on day 1.

Droid Incredible took a week to sell out, and then they buzz took off creating a severe shortage (even before the display supply problems).
 
We will never get any sales numbers for any phone. Verizon and Samsung doesn't announce them.

The only announce is if it hit a milestone. For example, Samsung shipped 10 million Galaxy S2 worldwide, so Samsung announces a pr statement about it.

I doubt Nexus will ever reach 10 million so don't expect any announcement ever.
 
Sorta related to sales numbers, if you want to see which new 4g phone sold more, you can go to Cell Phones - Smartphones: Cell Phone Service, Accessories - Verizon Wireless and look at the number of reviews each phone got. The phone with the most user reviews probably sold more than the phone with least user reviews.
Rankings so far for 4g phones released in Nov/Dec
1. Razr Droid
2. Nexus
3. Rezound
4. stratosphere

Nexus is catching up to Razr and Razr had a 1 month head start.
 
Word of mouth from the veterans at the VZW corp stores say one common thing:

"sales much stronger than the 4s"

What does that mean? Probably nothing :D:D

In fact, everytime I go back into a store, there's always a bunch of people at the sales stations activating phones.... almost 100% SGN's.
 
I think Verizon and us hardcore users really underestimated the popularity and the potential sales of the GN. I know in the weeks leading up to the release, my rep told me they weren't moving any Rezounds and not many RAZRs, that surprisingly people were screaming for the GN and holding out for it. I know on launch day when I picked mine up, I was told that they had been selling them steady all day (I picked mine up at lunch). The next day when I had to do an exchange for a defect, I was told that they were still selling them fairly steady throughout the day. Also from what I've read around the web and seen, people from all walks of life are getting the GN, and it's also pulling people off of other platforms, whereas the RAZR and Rezound were not really. I too would love to see some figures.
 
If you guys follow @vzwsupport and @vzwwireless on twitter they have been BLOWING up twitter about the G Nex from the day it was announced.

I still just see the stupid Razr commercial where the phone is held in place with swords for some reason while the guy is at the computer trying to crack the code or whatever the hell he's doing.

That and the one where the guy with the Rezound, whose music is so badass that it destroys an entire city block behind him. I see each of these probably ten times per football game.

I saw one GNex commercial, on youtube.

There is a Verizon Christmas commercial that I see on TV all the time. They edited the end to show the nexus hanging from a tree and they say "now hang out with up to 9 friends with the new galaxy nexus"
I see that one a lot
 
I've been seeing a good amount of commercials as well. I'm sure someone will determine the numbers via Samsung or VZ somehow soon. If they're great, they will probably openly announce it themselves to help promote the buzz.

It's unlikely they're much, or at all above expectations considering they're in stock everywhere, as far as I know. But maybe those expectations are pretty high.
 
The phone has been out 1 week. How many times have you been to a VZW store in the past week? Haha.

when i picked up my phone, last saturday, the verizon sales rep mentioned this was the only phone that caused a line of people waiting out front for the store to open. I live in central nj.
Regarding commericials, ive seen two. They were both verizon generic ones and verizon simply inserted the nexus at the end with no price. Havent seen a commericial specifically for the phone like the razr and rezound. I bet those are probably funded by moto and htc respectively. So maybe its samsung to blame. Just a thought
