custom alert tones?

How can I use my own alert tones? I've created quite a few of my own sounds that I used on my blackberry, including my daughter laughing, and I want to use that as my sms alert tone on the shift. I'm getting a little frustrated because it was so easy to personalize my blackberry curve and it's not quite so easy with the evo shift.

Hmm well the route I took was I put my audio onto my shift got the mp3 ringtone maker app, trimmed the part I wanted and set it to my texts...I'm not sure if there may be a faster way for custome alerts but that's how I went about with it...
