Root Custom Keyboard

[jhewit22]

Who has the coolest custom keyboard? Think it's you- post a screen shot and tell us how to get it too!!

stock droid X, HTC_IME or stock ginerbread. ginerbread gets my vote but its not installable separately (only as a replacement to the stock android kb I think...)

personally I think the ginerbread kb is fantastic but the reviewers are tearing it apart.

Why are they tearing it apart?

What they are tearing apart is a hack from the SDK rather than the real Gingerbread keyboard, which nobody has yet. What I've found is that the word prediction is poor and lags terribly compared with the stock Froyo keyboard - but, again, this is *not* the real Gingerbread keyboard.

My favorite keyboards *for the Eris* in order of preference:

- stock Froyo
- stock Eris/HTC_IME
- Swiftkey

I don't like the "Droid X Multitouch" ported keyboard, which is ugly and rather error-prone (i.e., it hits the wrong keys compared with other keyboards.) I also don't like Swype-like keyboards - I find them slow and they predict the wrong words too often, and it's hard to edit with them.

I just installed the Droid X Multitouch to see if I liked it or not, and that is what made me think of the thread.

they really seem to hate the keyboard compared to droid x/froyo. personally I loved the ging keyboard but there was something...wrong...with the dictionary. prediction didn't work half the time.
