Accessories Custom Made Incredible Dock

I can see the issue of the different cases. You could probably size it so it would fit most standard cases. Would be hard to adjust for those using rugged or thicker cases vs just a thin gel case. I use a Seidio Active case (or at least I will be when it arrives Monday).

If you were to add a framework to support the back, 2 thinner posts at the ends would be more desirable so that the extended battery would fit between them and those with the extended battery could still use it.

Personally I like the idea of just leaving a hole so we can use our own cable. I already have media and non-media cables as long as They could be secured in the hole.

When are you going to design a car dock. :) I've been trying to get motivated to make something that I can use my tv-out cable in my car but it wouldn't look near as good as your work.

Looking forward to seeing your latest design.

I would buy if I could finally convince my parents to get me one and the price is good!
I would pay a little extra like Tech said for an included cable.

I'd like one too. I like the idea of added side & back frame too. I had a BB Storm before and I loved the 'slide in' dock. The key would be (whether you include the cable itself or not) would be being able to drop it in and have it connect to the cable - so the cable would have to be snug and at the right position and depth to do that

...is that a possibility?

Wow this is a crazy i didn't expect this kind of response lol.

Anways...

@ Tech Addiction

I definetly agree with you on this and am going to think about. However it wouldn't be hard at all to have a few varations of the design ;-).

@ Kaelin

I will definetly add some sort of support to the back and will take in account the larger battery profile. Glad you mentioned that because I wouldn't have thought of that.

Also...I am thinking of some clever design that would account for different case sizes. I personally don't use them, but I damn neared everyone I know does. So "noted".

@ crazyg0od33

They won't be to expensive. ;-)

@ ckelly33 As it is now, everything is tight and right. I carefully measured the phone so that the USB hole would line up perfectly with the phones charger port.

As I said before I never intended on selling them, but It looks like I can. So I think I am going to take into account all of your suggestions and tweak it a little.

More to come...

I'M IN. Be sure to send out messages to those interested (especially ME!) so I can get one of these in hand ASAP. My OEM cancelled on me, so I'm depending on YOU! lol

Cool Cool.

I should have a run of bout 20 done by this time next week. Hopefully?! I will keep you all posted. I am going to change the design a little to accommodate everyones needs the best I can. ;-). I will have a new prototype done by Tuesday or Wednesday as soon as my metal shipment gets delivered.

Any chance of getting them powder coated black or red? How do you have the cable attached in there?

I am in a small town Colorado about 125 miles from Denver, which is the closet to have anything powdered coated. So I don't think I will.

If I was to apply any coating I would probably have them anodized, which is much more durable than powder coat and looks much better in my opinion. It would also drive the price up. I would like to keep them as low as possible. However, if I decide to start cranking these out and can sell enough of them, I may end up having that an option.

There is a through hole in the bottom about ~.002" smaller than the cable connector, so it is basically a friction fit, so it can be removed.

Looks like may need to order some aluminum. I never really intended too sell them. However if enough people want one. I will definitely do a run of 20 or so. I know my brother and his girlfriend want one for sure.

Dude, get to stepping and start producing them. With all the Android sites you could sell 100 without blinking. Put me in and as for a name or logo -
how about dX

OK So i haven't read through all of the responses and suggestions, but are you/could you consider having some sort of mechanism that grasps the coupler of the USB cable so it tightened at different depths of the dock? That way, when Otterbox decides to please its customers with an HTC incredible case, I can have that on my phone, while having the USB connector held high enough from the bottom to make a secure connection...

Hey, just a brain storm but if you created a hole for an Allen wrench, couldn't you make it so we could tighten a set screw to hold what ever type of cable we wanted? Most cable ends are very close to the same size on that end if i'm not mistaken, and the set screw could hold the cable at the right place. Just another thought to hold down on all the different variations. I understand not wanting to make it a charge only stand since there is a TV out option as well. Ideas never hurt. This is like a big think tank here.

N2airz,

That is a great looking stand. I am also interested in one. I have the Incredible with the Innocase II.

It is amazing the creativity you guys have!

That dock looks fantastic, I live in Denver. I'd buy one forsure and possible get a few fellow Incredible Owners to get as well

As far as all the DX guys go, I gotta make one for you guys too. Come one now did you think I would leave you out?

Also I am taking note of all the other design suggestions. You guys have some great ideas and I am listening.

Where would you sell them? would you take paypal payments and then have us give you our addresses? Or are you thinking of putting them on ebay when you have enough done? i would more than willingly pay $25-30 for this.
