Root Custom ROM?

Honestly mate... not a problem. Hope this does sort it all for you. If you get stuck/need any help, just shout up ;)
 
Ok, just been hit with the first problem:confused:. When i hit Get CID it wont give me the code in MMC1 but will in MMC0. Am i safe to go with that?
 
I have just had a look back through the thread I made when I was making a goldcard (to then downgrade, when I was rooting) and seen this post... I used the MMC2 number from the goldcard helper app to create the goldcard image (which was then used in the goldcard tool to create the actual card).

Hope that helps a bit :)
 
Just downloaded the app and have run it on my phone... use the second CID - the one that says:

Card: mmc2
Reverse CID:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

As that number is already reversed, all you need to do is put it in the website that creates the goldcard image :)
 
After succesfully creating the goldcard i went on to the next step and it said the ROM update utility can not update the android phone. Please get the correct ROM update utility and try again. At the top was ERROR[155]: UNKNOWN ERROR. Is it the end of the road:(

Could be the problem... thought it was almost too good to be true to find this RUU!!

We will have to approach this in a slightly different way Martin... you would still need the GoldCard, so the work that you have done so far has not been for nothing.

The process would now be:

Create a GoldCard (done)
Run RUU (trying to get this downloaded for you at the moment and will put a Dropbox link up for you as soon as I have it)
Root using Ace Hack Kit (root guide found in the sticky) - the reason to root is that the Hack Kit will change your CID.
Run second RUU - http://db.tt/71wHEg87 (this will put you on the most up-to-date, unbranded, Sense 3.0 firmware, ready to take updates direct from HTC as and when they come out)

If you just bear with me... I will get a link for the RUU that you need to run on your computer and repost for you :)
 
Right... have managed to get the RUU that I think you would need to use.

The process would now be:

Create a GoldCard (done) - this allows you to put a non-branded firmware on your phone... as in run the next RUU.
Run RUU - http://db.tt/1YCENbSb (older, non-branded firmware)
Root using Ace Hack Kit (root guide found in the sticky) - the reason to root is that the Hack Kit will change your CID.
Run second RUU - http://db.tt/71wHEg87 (this will put you on the most up-to-date, unbranded, Sense 3.0 firmware, ready to take updates direct from HTC as and when they come out)

Once you have done all of the above, you can dispense of the GoldCard - if you have a card reader, you can plug it in to your computer and format it :)

Still facing the same problem, my phone doesn't want to play ball. Tried 3 times and still says, "The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again":confused:
 
I know that the second one of the 2 RUU's that I linked has worked before. It could be something to do with the GoldCard... will double check and come back to you :)
 
if you plan on keeping this phone around,i would encourage you to try and "superCID" it,if you would like to flash other carriers RUUs. the errors youre getting above sound like a problem with the goldcard. just to make sure we are all on the same page,you are putting a PxxxIMG file onto the goldcard,correct? if youre running the .exe files,then the gold card is not helping you,it will not let the carrier checks made by the .exe pass.

i have a great deal of fun flashing foreign RUUs on my sensation.

if the goal is to be stock for your carrier,then i would suggest simply flashing this one: FileFactory Premium

before you flash anything,i might suggest that we check your hboot and see if you have an s-off that will remain after flashing. this will greatly simplify things for you if you want to root again in the future.

there is a setting called "fastboot" that youll need to find and uncheck. in GB roms its in settings/power.

turn off your phone. hold volume down,then power until you see a white screen with colored letters. tell us the info that you see on this screen :)

Sorry Martin, but it looks like I was taking you the long way round... you should be able to change your CID without having to use a GoldCard... I think that you should be able to just use the tool I linked to change the CID (hang fire though before just doing it, to get confirmation).

If that is the case that you can use the tool to change the CID and then you should be good to run the latest RUU, so you have Sense 3.0 :)
 
I understand that you have Sense 3.0 on your handset at the moment, but it is a custom ROM and I thought you wanted to go back to stock? We are looking to put you on to stock, unbranded at the moment, unless you want to do something else?

Are you not intereseted in remaining on Custom ROM's?
 
Sorry i think i miss-understood, I would like to go back to stock (unbranded) so i can get all HTC updates.
