hey guys can anyone tell me whether customizing my ROM on HTC Desire X device is good or not..I had purchased the phone a few days back and I wanted to root it but am afraid as something wrong might happen. Could any of you guys give me tips??

Let me ask a question before answering yours. What are you hoping to gain by rooting? I don't recommend rooting unless there is something specific you are looking to gain from it. I wouldn't root just to say you have a rooted phone.

Rooting can help with getting better battery life and smoother performance if the you install a ROM from a good developer. Install a poorly made ROM and you will have all kinds of headaches. If you follow the rooting direction to the letter you should be OK. but yes, there is a possibility you can do hard to your phone if you are not careful.

I recommend lots of reading before rooting Be very sure you understand the process
Rooting can give you lots of benefits, or if done improperly, can give you a bricked
phone Read up on it, a lot!! The benefits are quite a lot though For instance,

Roms, Overclocked kernels, Themes, Root only apps from the play store And more

But, I have to stress the fact again, Read, Read, Read!!!! Better to be knowledgeable about it and safe, rather than get in a hurry, then have to stare at a phone that you cant use at all.
