Root Custom ROMS?

They're coming. I've got one with much progress completed on it, but the lack of CWM - which is caused by useless kernel source code from Samsung (who to their credit are at least working on it now, thanks SamsungJohn) - is holding back progress.
 
The wife hates her indulge... I know its because of the shat stock rom and so does she.... But not its not worth it till the roms are there and ready for flashing. Patience is a virtue!
 
k0nane, so far what do you guys have in the rom? a preview release-log would be awesome. things like, what android version, deodexed, permaroot? i hear CWM is already ready for release, anything else missing thats holding back the rom development?

another question:

now with CWM released for the indulge, and (soon) your fully custom rom, any chance of starting to port Cyanogen to our beloved 4Gs? I am fully willing to help.
 
I admit I am curious to see what kind of space and speed increase we get when a Rom completely unsamsung's (removing touchwiz at base level, etc) this phone...
 
That wouldn't be really possible, considering in the framework system folder there's something called twframework-res.apk. TW = touch wiz. So even if you remove the TW launcher, it still runs the framework. I'm not sure if its possible to make a custom framework-res to replace it, but that would be the only way to "completely" remove TW. It handles stuff like the drop down bar and status bar. So there's not to much left of TW anyways with just the twframework-res.apk, and its about 500 kb in my rom opipnged, I believe stock is about 1.4 mb.
 
no its not worth it get the huawei mercury instead of the indulge the phone is so good stock you wont even want to root it for anything
 
Well, the indulge has 4g. The mercury doesn't.
To be honest, I don't know why such a beast does not have 4g at this point in time.
While the phone is good, the lack of 4g forces you to use wifi for all effective browsing, which, while it sucks, is not the end of the world. Throw in a microSD card and some headphones and we could be talking about something! LOL ;)
 
Im sure he was talking about the Indulge for Cricket. That Crickets Huawei Mercury is better than Crickets Huawei Indulge.
