Custom SMS alerts

[Peter Pan]

I would like to know if it's possible to make your own custom SMS alerts? Ringtones are not a problem, just for SMS.

I googled and only found information about HTC Desire, which seemed to be a little different. Also, I'm not familiar with this kind of stuff at ALL, so there may have been instructions but obviously they have been too difficult for me to understand.

So a little help for the n00b?

Try Ringdroid. It's what I use and seems to work ok for me. It's in the Marketplace and free so what have you got to loose!
