Help Custom SMS app default icon

Hi all,
I have searched and searched for an answer on this, but found nothing. Hopefully someone knows.

I've recently installed GoSMS and am very impressed, but there is one minor annoyance. I'm probably not alone here, I just want to be able to launch it via my usual 'messages' icon. So far I have figured out that the normal 'messages' icon appears to actually be the app itself, so this cannot be reconfigured.

I have tried using SMS Unread Count widget as the icon, but for some strange reason this still launches the default sms app. I have also read up on how to set GoSMS as default (long press on a contact and send text, then dialog comes up asking which is default). But this has made no different to the widget.

So what am I to do? Hopefully someone knows.

if you install a launcher like launcher pro or adw you can create a shortcut to your apps with whatever icon you want. You could probably download your default message app icon, and select that.

Apart from the launchers, there is another app which you can use to create a shortcut, i cant remember the name right now, will try look for you.

did you try using Folder Organizer (available from the market).

it allows you to change the app icons.

long press on the screen > add widget > folder organizer item > choose an icon for your stock messaging app > add to screen.

Folder organizer sorted it! Looks just like the original now! It highlights orange when I press it, but I can live with that.

Folder organizer, thats the one i was looking for. Stopped using it after i installed Launcher Pro

I did check out launcher pro, but it looked like a complete UI changer? I quite like sense so didn't wanna get rid of it! How is LP for you?

I am running oxygen rom so no sense, but launcher pro is great, no issues.

I like the dock at the bottom, much better then sense dock.
