Apps Customer Alert when arrive in store

Hi,

Sorry for posting a very basic question.

We have a big store with 500 plus daily customer visiting us. out of which 5% are premium customer, We want to develop a customer app so when they arrive in parking area our sale person must get update so he can receive them from parking area.

Is it possible to make a app like this which only work in our store.

An Android app can sense a person's presence, either through location services or wifi near acertain network. But there's no guarantee your Android customers will have their settings adjusted to turn location services on, or to have wifi on. And I assume some of your customers use Apple.. you'll have to deal with both platforms.

@electricpete did a great job of answering you and pointing out a few hurdles you might have to overcome.

I'd also assume that you'd have to include some kind of incentive for people to have your app installed looking for when it's close to your store's location (and it would have to be carefully written to avoid overusing precious system resources to avoid being a battery hog).

I'm going to move your thread to our Application Development area so you can get some feedback from the devs that frequent there.
