customizable key

Anyone know how to change the customizable key on the stock keyboard to go directly to Voice as the first choice? Default is Handwriting and makes it kind of difficult with 2 steps to get to Voice. Its labeled as the "customizable key " under the tutorial - Samsung keyboard settings. So how to we customize it?????
I must be missing something. thanks!

tap and hold the customisable key and it will give you options to choose from then just tap the microphone that should work

yes I do that, but kinda frustrating having to do it everytime. It reverts back to handwriting each time. Just read on another board this seems to be an ATT issue and with other carriers it stays on what every you choose last. Can anyone else attest to this?

On my international note2 it does stick with what it was on when you last closed it.
