Root customizable

which rom would you say is the most user customizable that is not an AOSP.
i had cyanogen mod on my hero but now that i have an Evo i would like to be able to customize it while keeping my 4g
 
What kind of customizations did you have in mind? Themes, etc.? As long as you have what's called a deodexed ROM, you can flash almost any generic theme made for the Evo. You can find most of them on xda. There are, however, a lot of different mods made just for specific ROMs. Some ROMs are more popular than others, so just by pure number of users, some ROMs are going to have a lot of extra mods. Some example would be Myn's Warm or Fresh. If you can give me some examples of what you want to do, I can point you in a more specific direction and give you some links. It's a bit too much of an open-ended question at the moment :).
 
Specifics like nexus s, lock screen (the tv thing) lock screen gestures, ability to change screen transitions like a cube ect. Not just sliding, other little things like that
 
Most mods like that (if you can find them), should be flashable on any deodexed ROM. I haven't seen those specific mods, but I'm sure you can find them on xda. Have you flashed any ROMs yet, or are you just starting?

See the Rooting for Dummies sticky for specific instructions on how to flash ROMs. You'll probably find a lot of information you already know, but good idea to anyway. Of course, make a nandroid backup first. If you need any more information or want any help finding specific mods, let me know.
 
I am wondering this exact thing. Any new update son this question?

I flashed CM7, but I wanted to try go launcher, so I installed that and doing so seemed to take away the customization options that CM7 originally comes with.

I guess I will try launcher pro. I have just been hearing good things about go launcher and a lot of the recent reviews for launcher por say its sluggish or force closes a lot.

Yeah go launcher is the clover icon. I have been using it and cm7 since last night. Trying to get it set up the way I want. Then going to see how the battery life is.

I may also try go luancher on one of the sense roms I like. I am really starting to like it as a luancher. But I will admit, I haven't given Launcher pro or adw to say anything about them good or bad.

Launchers don't change the lock screen do they? I really like the sense 3.0 lockscreen.

Are there any other good lock screen replacements out there? Or can you change the lock screen with some of these different launchers? I have heard of widget locker, but haven't tried it yet, anything else I should check out?

You can flash a 2.1/3.0 sense rom like Mik or King's Alliance and then use the launcher you want. They have the 3.0 lockscreen. I use the Alliance 7.3 rom w/Go Launcher and it works great.

(No, launchers do not change the lockscreen.)

Thanks for that info. I thought so, but wanted to be sure first. I have a nandroid backup of kings 7.3. But I like several other options too.

Another question. VirusRom has some visual effects I like. His notification bar has a green effect to it, when certain things happen, like being on speaker phone. And he also has the green affect when you scroll all the way to the top of bottom of a menu. To do things like this do you need to mess with the framework. Or can some of these launchers do it? I know CM7 let me change the color of the menu scroll thing.

I backed up my CM7 and reflashed VirusROM and installed go launcher. You were right it doesn't change the lockscreen. But it wouldn't let me edit the lockscreen either. I had to switch back to sense, make my changes then swicth back to go launcher. Is this normal, or just a glitch for me? It's not that big of a hassle, I was just curious.

The same thing happens with Launcher Pro. It's some thing you have to deal with, as far as I know. :(
