Custommised message tone

Hi

I am new to the HTC Hero. I would like to use my own MP3 for a tone when I receive a text. I have tried doing this by putting th efile on my SD card and setting it that way when it is in a specific folder but I still get the HTC Hero default text tone. Please can someone advise.

Put the file in a folder called 'notifications' on the sdcard, then go your sms app (stock/handcent/chompsms/etc) and it should be available to select as the notification tone.

Then make sure every other app that might notify you of an SMS has notifications turned off. So for example, if you're using a 3rd party sms app, make sure to turn off notifications in the settings of the stock sms app.

That should do it
