CustomSMS and Handcent cancelling each other?

I've installed Handcent and CustomSMS so I can, obviously, customize my settings, mostly because I was trying to find a notification customization I could use. (Honestly, why the effing hell does Droid X not have separate tones for text/email/etc? Why is it all under a "notifications" umbrella?) Since I wanted the ability to customize each person's text notification sound, I got Handcent; that didn't quite do it, so I also got CustomSMS.

My question now...is the fact I have them both canceling out contact pictures? I've set and re-set pictures for people on my contacts, both through the Droid X's normal edit, and Handcent, and no matter what I do, the damn pictures don't show up when someone calls or texts. It's getting frustrating, especially after I finally fixed the gmail notifications that were driving me bonkers.

(I seriously love this phone, but some of these problems are a real puzzle.)

The Droid X does actually have different ringtones for Text Messages / Emails / Etc... If you go into Messaging or Text Messages then settings under notifications you can set the Text Ring there, Same with Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, and most other programs with notifications.

That is true, which I realized after the fact, but I was still looking for even more customization with individual notifications. Like Contact X having a different text tone than Contact Z. My old LG XV 3300 used to have it. Ergo, CustomSMS and Handcent.
