Help Cuts out during calls

Hi, Have had my SGS2 for a couple of weeks and loving it, but I've noticed something very wrong. During phone calls, whether speaker or holding the phone to my ear, the sound will just cut out for about maybe 5-10 seconds, and then come back with the caller still talking as if nothing has happened. I know they can't hear me too during this time because on one call, when the sound came back, the caller was saying "hello, hello, are you still there" despite me during the period asking the same thing.

Has anyone else had this or heard of it, and if so, how can I fix it please?

Cheers,
Pete

Yes I've been having exactly the same issue!

I've been using the galaxy s2 for about 3 weeks now and have started to notice this regularly. I have even had some calls completely disconnect, and when I reconnect from the exact same spot, the call is very clear/strong.

I am on the same service provider as before (orange uk) and have experienced it happening in places it definitely didn't with my old phone.

If anyone else has had similar experiences, ie. calls dropping out for a few seconds mid-call or even cutting off altogether, please pipe up and maybe we can start figuring out if this is a service provider issue (despite what I say above), an issue isolated to some S2's, or even a wider S2/android problem...

Thanks so much for posting, I was feeling lonely on this topic, glad I'm not alone...hoping to hear more about this to understand what the cause is.

Just had this myself this evening on a 45minute call in the middle of the call i could hear the other end but she could not hear me, then suddenly she said I had come back loud and clear.
I am on Orange in the North West of the UK.

I had a problem that whilst in a call, the call would drop but the phone wouldn't give an audio notification of this, so I'd quite happily chat away to myself for a few more seconds until I'd notice I had no response from the other party...

I'm on Talk mobile (vodafone). Over the past week I've changed one setting to see if this would cure the problem for the time being. I don't know if its been by chance, but the only time I had a dropped call is when turning the option back on.

Settings>wireless and network>mobile networks>network mode> Change from auto to GSM only.

N.B You'll only have slow data access whilst this option is enabled. I think this works as the phone may have trouble when switching from gsm to wcdma mode whilst in a call. My problem isn't exactly the same but thought I'd throw this option out in just in case. :)

i dont think it has to do with reseption, i am getting the same issue and im in australia and it has been cutting out when i have full bars. its not a overlooked setting is it ?

@ Piannetta: I am experiencing similar problems. I have used my SGS2 for about 3weeks and experienced exactly same problem on random calls. I called Orange (my mobile operator) and they said it wasn't the phone but possibly network problem. I do not buy that explaination and told them i will observe for another month and if it reoccurs again, the phone will have to be replaced (cos I think it is hardware related). Please I want to know if other SGS2 users on different mobile operators experience same.

Just a quick update, I installed the latest firmware about 2 weeks ago, and every phone call since then has worked perfectly. So I'm suggesting there was a fault with the firmware that has since been resolved, otherwise I'm just in the middle of a lucky streak of good calls (which is unlikely given my previous experiences).

May I ask what firmware you have? I am now experiencing the same problem on all stock ATT Galaxy S2. Thank you.

AJ

this galaxy s2 is giving me a lot of pain first the heating problem than the battery life and now the call drop problem..when ever i talk it mutes and than drops...this shit is giving me a pain

firmware:....XWKL1 2.3.6

Glad to know that I'm not alone, but sad to see such a hyped phone giving troubles like this.

I too have this issue. So today I've put the SIM back into my Nokia E7 and all is fine with calls and range etc etc.

Not sure what the solution should be.
