cwm nandroid backup

Android Expert
Relative noob with regards to roms etc,

I recently rooted my s2, i then created a nandroid backup, flashed andyromx 12, a day later 13 came out, so i flashed it, doing the 4 clears everyone i have flashed!

I the. Decided to try the latest dragon aokp ROM(2.71 if i remember properly!) Before i did this i created another nandroid backup using cwm.

With the two previous roms i have kept my contact data that was on my Sim,however this it has vanished. There are some things i love on this ROM but i think overall i prefer andyx.

So i tried to recover from my previous nandroid backup, but when i select this option in cwm, it comes up with a blank screen and no options to recover.

Would this backup have been saved on the internal sd and deleted when wipes have been done?

I still have things saved and backed up on titanium and they have worked fine in the recover.

Thanks in advance for any help, as im sure i will get it :-) (even if you just point out where i went wrong :-P)

Cwm backups get saved on the root of the internal and external sd cards under a clockworkmod folder. Kernels these days default to external card as default location, but you can still backup to internal if required in cwm recovery.
The only way you would have lost these is if you have manually deleted or formatted either storage location. These locations do not get wiped in a factory reset at all.

Mmmm, well my external card has been fine, like i said titanium backups have restored perfectly.

Do you need to donate or something in order to access the nandroid one? I know if i want to access specifics from nandroid using titanium you need to get the pro version....

Any other ideas are welcome but thanks hawker :-)

no donation is necessary to backup/restore via CWM Recovery.
Can you find a clockworkmod folder on your external/internal sd card?
if so, what is in there? any backups will be stored in a backup sub-folder

Using a file manager open /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup and see if you have a folder there named by the date. If not, and you didn't move or delete them, then I would guess the nandroid never completed successfully.

Have searched and cannot appear to find the as card at all, but i have some films downloaded on it and they are showing, when i plugged it into the laptop and eventually managed to get finding the phone, the folder and two backups are there (worse circumstance, i had made a copy of the first backup onto the laptop :-)) but still cwm doesn't want to find it...any other ideas? Could it be that the dragon ROM won't recognise the as card? If i reflashed Andyx do you think i could then access my nandroid backups? My battery is below 40percent now though so IM guessing I'd have to wait till the morning before reflashing?

Thanks again for your speedy help (I'm not long back from work, and was working when i pay originally )

I've bar. been able to copy the backup i want, over to a folder on the internal sd, and cwm now recognises it, however i attempted to recover it and it never worked, just rebooted dragon again. I think that in the morning i will check on here and if there are no replys, i shall just reflash andyx then see if it recognises my external as properly. And will try to recover my nandroid from there on.

Thanks again.

Just thought id update you on my progress.

I reflashed andyxrom and cwm now does indeed show all the backups. Including the one i copied onto my internal sd. It still hasnt allowed me to actually recover these backups successfully but i have instead justrstored things from titanium again. My contacts are all back again too (dragon didnt allow me to view these from the sim card but andyxrom does)

Thanks again.
